What every host company commits to
Before a student is matched, the host agrees to all of this in writing.
01A real project
Work the company actually needs done, scoped so a high school student can finish it in six weeks.
02A named mentor
Someone who does the work every day, meets the student 1-on-1 every week and gives written feedback.
03A signed certificate
Every student who completes gets a certificate of completion, signed.
04A personal letter
A letter describing the student’s actual project, what they delivered and the skills they showed. Top performers also earn a recommendation letter.
05LEAD’s safeguarding rules
The company and mentor are checked first, and every session and message happens on LEAD’s channels.

What kind of companies host LEAD interns?
Real, operating companies, mostly startups and growing businesses, in the fields students choose. We’re signing our first host companies now, and we’ll tell you about them on your call.
How are students matched with a company?
We match you on your field, your interests and what you want to try, using your application and your call with a LEAD coordinator.
Who is my mentor?
Someone at your host company who does this work every day, and who works with you 1-on-1. You meet once a week to show progress and get feedback, and message in between on LEAD’s channels, where a coordinator can see everything.
Does it cost anything to host an intern?
No. Hosting is free for companies.
How much time does hosting take?
About an hour a week for 6 weeks: one 1-on-1 session with your intern plus a little written feedback. We handle matching, scheduling and safeguarding.
How many students would we host?
One to three students, depending on the project and how much you want to take on.
